Garden mentor and coach

 

Maybe you’ve crammed YouTube videos, poured over gardening books or watched gardening TV shows, but you can’t quite get the same results alone. Just like learning to drive or having a PT session, working one-to-one with an expert in their field brings faster and more memorable results.

 

That’s why I’m offering a one-to-one gardening experience to you, helping already keen gardeners improve their skills and knowledge, and working closely with those at the start of their gardening journey to nurture their practical know-how.  

 

How I can help you

Garden mentoring and coaching essentially means we work together to achieve the best results for your garden. During our time together I will demonstrate the best gardening techniques and explain why tasks are performed that way. I’ll give you the confidence to carry out these techniques yourself and support you as you develop as a gardener. Learning new skills will give you a great sense of achievement and of course, you’ll see a big difference in your garden!

 

As a mentor, I’m very flexible. You might want to focus on a specific area, such as learning how to grow your own fruit and vegetables, or simply want to learn how to maintain your garden throughout the year; covering things like lawncare, pruning correctly at the right time (so you don’t accidently remove flower buds), raising plants from seed, moving plants, maintaining beds and borders, and putting together container displays.

 

If you’re a complete novice, I can start with the basics (choosing tools, weeding, watering, feeding, planting, digging etc) before moving on to other areas. Or if you a more knowledgeable gardener who doesn’t have the strength and flexibility you once had, I can act as extra pair of hands for more strenuous tasks.  

 

How it works

Our first session will last an hour. In this initial meeting, we will walk around your outdoor space, discussing your garden, your knowledge and what you want to achieve. Once home, I will put together a plan based on our time together. Going forwards, we can meet on a regular basis, whether this is weekly, fortnightly or every month – the frequency of visits can be adapted depending on the season, your availability and what you feel will benefit you the most. We can focus on specific goals or broader garden care, and of course, I can answer any gardening queries.

 

Pricing

• Initial 1 hour meeting £60.

• One-to-one garden mentoring, £60 per hour.
