A recipe for disaster
I love a good typo more than most, so was over the moon when steered towards the latest (December 3) issue of Amateur Gardening. There’s an almighty howler to be found at the bottom of the Your Gardening Week section, where AG’s resident cook gives advice to readers on how to make canapes out of winter lettuce leaves. Apart from stuffing them with cream cheese and a dash of paprika, the advice is to ‘try other fillings such as homos mixed with crushed garlic’. You can make your own minds up, but I think this is probably best avoided if you’re trying to impress guests over the festive period.

Actually they are a top music band,(Homos mixed with garlic) and I have signed them up on my own label, cause you have to respect what they are doing.
Oh, cmon Martyn, be a bit adventurous this Christmas. I have had my fair share of homos mixed with garlic and can recommend them. Although they are better neat.
A splash of chilli sauce and I’d be game
Actually laughing aloud here. What a fantastic howler!
Great observation Martyn!

I hope somebody thoroughly road-tested the recipe before publishing.
Brilliant typo. The best one I ever came across, was in a Kenyan newspaper (lived there many years), where they were announcing Witney Houston’s visit to Kenya, with much excitement and very big headlines. The only problem was that they used a photo of George Adamson instead…. I kept it, but can’t for the life of me remember where….
